The Edwin Locke collection transforms the familiar contours of the Lake District into a striking study of geometry and colour. These landscapes strip away intricate details, presenting the fells, winding roads, and traditional stone buildings as bold, interlocking shapes. Dramatic colour contrasts define the aesthetic: deep, velvety indigos and charcoal greys meet vibrant, flat planes of terracotta, burnt orange, and warm mustard yellow. Soft gradient washes in the sky, reminiscent of misty mornings and low light, provide a gentle atmospheric backdrop to the sharply defined, angular mountains and sweeping, graphic paths in the foreground. Tiny, silhouetted figures, climbers, and grazing sheep introduce a sense of vast scale against the imposing, block-colour environments. Each piece presents a highly stylised, modern perspective on the outdoors, offering a compelling and structured focal point for contemporary interiors.
