Large wall art for the wall you keep looking at
Lakeland paintings at their biggest — 90cm squares, and float-framed panoramas up to 152cm wide. Made to order, delivered ready to hang.
Collection: Large Wall Art
Sized for the wall, not for the gap
Most people buy too small. A picture wants to span roughly two thirds of whatever stands beneath it, so a two-metre sofa is asking for something 130 to 150cm across — more than a single ordinary print can give it. That is what this collection is for. The large wall art here runs to 90 x 90cm as a square, and to 51 x 152cm as a float-framed panoramic canvas: five feet of lake, ridge and sky in one frame.
Every painting is a Lakeland one — Buttermere at last light, the Langdale Pikes over Blea Tarn, Wast Water under the screes, a beck coming off the fell in spate. Squares are sold as fine art prints or as canvas, framed in black, white or natural oak, or unframed for your own framer. Panoramas are canvas only, float-framed in six finishes with a shadow gap so the canvas stands clear of the wall. The Wainwright map sheets sit here too, at 50 x 70cm.
Below each piece you will find a size guide drawn to scale against a sofa, with all three sizes side by side — worth a look before you choose, because at this scale the difference between 70cm and 90cm is not a detail.

What fits where
-
Above the sofa
Shop panoramicThe usual rule is art about two thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. Against a 200cm three-seater that is 130–150cm — which a 90cm square cannot reach and a 152cm panorama does exactly.
-
A blank chimney breast
Shop the squaresA square holds a chimney breast better than a wide piece, because the alcoves either side give it edges. 90cm is right for most; 70cm if the breast is under a metre wide.
-
Above the bed
Shop panoramicKeep it inside the width of the headboard and hang it 20–25cm above it. A 91cm panorama suits a double, a 152cm one a king — both sit low and wide, which is what reads as calm.
-
A hall, a stairwell, a landing
Shop the mapsNarrow walls take one large piece far better than a cluster of small ones, and a framed 50 x 70cm map sheet gives people something to stand and read.
Buying a large piece
How big is 90cm, really?
90 x 90cm is a little under a metre each way — about half the width of a three-seater sofa, and roughly the span of your outstretched arms. Every product page on this site carries a size guide drawn to scale against a sofa, with all three sizes side by side, so you can see it before you decide.
What is the largest piece you make?
A 51 x 152cm float-framed panoramic canvas — five feet wide. It is printed on 400gsm cotton canvas over a 38mm stretcher, set into the frame with a 5mm shadow gap so the canvas appears to float, and it stands 53mm off the wall.
Will a large print still look sharp?
Yes. Everything is printed to order at full resolution, and the file for the 152cm canvas is prepared individually for that size rather than simply enlarged. Framed prints are on 200gsm enhanced matte art paper; canvases on 400gsm cotton.
Does it arrive ready to hang?
Every framed print, framed canvas and framed poster arrives with hanging fixings fitted. Unframed prints and map sheets are sent rolled in a tube for your own framer.
How long does a large piece take to arrive?
Made to order: 2–5 working days to print and frame, then 3–7 working days' delivery in the UK and 5–14 internationally. Large framed canvases ship boxed and corner-protected.
Is the art AI-generated?
Yes, and we say so plainly. Each painting is generated with AI, then chosen, graded and published by hand — we publish a small fraction of what is made. The Wainwright maps are drawn from real survey data, not generated.
