The Sebastian Finch collection offers a distinctly modern interpretation of Lakeland scenery, reducing complex topographies into flat, intersecting geometric planes. These works are dominated by a highly controlled palette of cool, refreshing tones—ranging from pale mint and ice blue to rich emerald, deep teal, and stark, contrasting white. Every composition relies on strong, structural shapes, turning winding rivers, steep fell sides, and sheer cliff edges into bold, abstract blocks of colour.

Texture plays a vital role across these images, with prominent, directional brushmarks adding depth and tactile interest to the flat, graphic blocks. The heavy surface texture leaves visible ridges that catch the light, mimicking the rugged terrain of the Lakes. Small, precise motifs occasionally punctuate the vast, abstracted landscapes: tiny silhouetted figures traversing a sharp ridge, solitary birds or deer set against grid-like backgrounds, and clusters of traditional white-rendered cottages with matching teal roofs. These striking pieces bring a crisp, contemporary energy to any interior, perfectly capturing the atmospheric coolness and dramatic scale of the region through a deeply structural, modern lens.
