Terracotta Fells and Lake Reflections

Sweeping lines and bold, contrasting tones bring a dramatic rhythm to this striking Lake District scene. Stripped of fine detail, the landscape is distilled into pure, flowing energy that draws the eye straight past the foreground grasses and across the water to the towering fells.

Deep navy blue and warm terracotta orange dominate the palette, set sharply against an off-white ground. Silhouetted reeds anchor the composition, giving way to heavily stylised, rippling waters. Above, the peaks are rendered in thick, sweeping contours that mirror the movement of the lake and the layered clouds drifting overhead, creating a cohesive, graphic texture throughout the piece.
