These evocative landscapes bring the dramatic, shifting light of the Lake District into any interior. The Elias Thorne collection is defined by broad, sweeping strokes that display thick, visible textures across every scene. Towering fells rise in soft greys and muted sage, providing a vast backdrop for sudden, brilliant strikes of golden ochre where sunlight breaks through heavy cloud cover. Distinctive vertical drags of colour create mirror-like reflections on tranquil lakes, perfectly catching the illuminated hillsides and stands of dark, silhouetted pines. In the foreground, loose yet deliberate marks form grazing sheep and sun-bleached grasses, grounding the majestic scale of the valleys. The skies are a study in atmosphere, with wide patches of serene blue interrupted by bold, luminous white and grey clouds casting distinct sunbeams down onto the land. Every piece balances the deep, cool shadows of the terrain with intense, warm light, capturing the profound stillness and fleeting weather patterns of the Cumbrian countryside.
