These landscapes offer a bold, graphic vision of the Lake District, rendered entirely in deep cobalt blue and warm, unbleached white. The Hugh Lancaster collection defines the natural world through rhythmic, sweeping lines that echo topographic maps or the textured grooves of traditional block printing. These parallel striations carve out the steep slopes of Lakeland fells, the rolling curves of valleys, and the undulating ripples across broad stretches of water. Solid blocks of dark blue anchor the compositions, forming dense silhouettes of pine trees, shadowed mountain peaks, and reeded shorelines. Above this highly structured terrain, the skies feature distinct, billowing clouds with stippled edges that float against flat azure expanses. The stark colour contrast and flowing geometry give each piece a compelling, almost hypnotic rhythm. By stripping away traditional colour palettes, these pieces focus entirely on the dramatic shapes and deep contours of the environment. The result is a striking aesthetic that brings both high-impact visual contrast and a tranquil sense of natural order to modern interiors.
