Stone Bridge Under Ink Blue

The interplay of heavy atmosphere and crisp stonework gives this modern piece an arresting, dramatic edge. It reduces a classic Lake District setting to its rawest elements of light, shadow and vibrant colour.

A sweeping wash of moody, ink-blue teal dominates the sky, bleeding smoothly into warm, earthy ochre. Against this heavy backdrop, the stark white negative space of a traditional stone bridge and a tumbling beck stands out with brilliant clarity. Touches of moss green and a single rust-coloured tree anchor the left bank, suggesting autumn foliage before dissolving into the loose, evocative landscape.
