This poem describes the thrilling scramble over Sharp Edge and the comforting sight of Saddleback after a long drive, perfectly catching the mountain’s patient spirit. Any walker who cherishes Blencathra will adore having this linocut print of its sunlit, folded ridges taking pride of place on their wall.

Blencathra

They called it Saddleback: the curve
That dips between its two high ends;
Below, the ridges drop and swerve
Like folded cloth, in pleats and bends.

And there's Sharp Edge, a knife of stone
Above the cold of Scales Tarn's bowl;
You cross it once, and on your own,
And feel it somewhere in your soul.

We see it from the road, and know
We're nearly there, the long drive done:
Blencathra, patient, row on row
Of ridges gilded by the sun.

Sizes

A4 — 21 × 29.7 cm

A3 — 29.7 × 42 cm

Each size is the printed sheet itself. Framed, the 20 mm moulding sits outside it and there is no mount, so the whole sheet is on show. Unframed, it is sent flat, ready for a frame of your own.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper — no gloss and no glare, so the words read cleanly from across a room.

Framed in a 20 mm wide solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, with a backing board and hanging fixtures already fitted.

Unframed prints are the same paper and the same print, sent flat.
