Featuring the original poem below a beautiful linocut illustration, this print captures the quiet magic of Bowness-on-Windermere, from feeding swans by the pier to watching twilight settle across Belle Isle. Anyone with fond memories of peaceful shores and waiting lake boats will absolutely love it on their wall.

Bowness-on-Windermere

The swans come sailing to the shore
For crusts held out in children's hands;
Beside the pier, as years before,
The lake boat, warm and waiting, stands.

Across the water, low and green,
Belle Isle lies anchored, trees and all,
And past it, blue, the fells are seen,
Range after range, the far ones small.

We find a bench, and sit, and stay
To watch the last boats coming in,
Till all the lake has turned to grey
And lights along the shore begin.

The print. A4 (21 x 29.7cm) or A3 (29.7 x 42cm). Framed in a solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, with shatterproof acrylic glazing and hanging fixtures fitted, or unframed on 200gsm fine-art paper, sent flat and ready for a frame of your own. Printed to order.

Sizes

A4 — 21 × 29.7 cm

A3 — 29.7 × 42 cm

Each size is the printed sheet itself. Framed, the 20 mm moulding sits outside it and there is no mount, so the whole sheet is on show. Unframed, it is sent flat, ready for a frame of your own.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper — no gloss and no glare, so the words read cleanly from across a room.

Framed in a 20 mm wide solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, with a backing board and hanging fixtures already fitted.

Unframed prints are the same paper and the same print, sent flat.
