Carrying the original poem set into a lovely linocut illustration, this print is about the steep, rocky climb from Dungeon Ghyll and captures the sheer, stark beauty of Stickle Tarn. Walkers who fondly remember the crooked line of Jack’s Rake will absolutely love having this warm keepsake on their wall.

Stickle Tarn

From Dungeon Ghyll we start to climb
Beside the falls of Stickle Ghyll,
On rocky steps, one at a time,
Until the ground goes flat and still.

And there's the tarn, and, rising sheer
Behind it, Pavey Ark's grey wall,
With Jack's Rake slanting, stark and clear,
A crooked line across it all.

A low stone dam still holds it back,
Once built to run the powder mills
At Elterwater, down the track;
Now it just fills, and spills, and fills.

The print. A4 (21 x 29.7cm) or A3 (29.7 x 42cm). Framed in a solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, with shatterproof acrylic glazing and hanging fixtures fitted, or unframed on 200gsm fine-art paper, sent flat and ready for a frame of your own. Printed to order.

Sizes

A4 — 21 × 29.7 cm

A3 — 29.7 × 42 cm

Each size is the printed sheet itself. Framed, the 20 mm moulding sits outside it and there is no mount, so the whole sheet is on show. Unframed, it is sent flat, ready for a frame of your own.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper — no gloss and no glare, so the words read cleanly from across a room.

Framed in a 20 mm wide solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, with a backing board and hanging fixtures already fitted.

Unframed prints are the same paper and the same print, sent flat.
