This original poem captures the roadless tranquillity and untamed wildness of Ennerdale Water, where the river Liza wanders freely towards Pillar. Paired with a striking linocut illustration, it is the perfect print for weary walkers and nature lovers who want a piece of this remote, quiet valley on their wall.

Ennerdale Water

No road runs by its shore; the last
And westmost water of them all,
It lies where fewer cars have passed,
Towards the Pillar's rocky wall.

Far up the dale, beyond the trees,
Black Sail, remotest hostel, stands,
Where walkers, with their aching knees,
Come in to warm their frozen hands.

And here they've let the whole dale go:
The Liza wanders as it will,
Through woods left free to seed and grow,
And wildness takes the valley still.

Each size is the printed sheet itself. Framed, the 20 mm moulding sits outside it and there is no mount, so the whole sheet is on show. Unframed, it is sent flat, ready for a frame of your own.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper — no gloss and no glare, so the words read cleanly from across a room.

Framed in a 20 mm wide solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, with a backing board and hanging fixtures already fitted.

Unframed prints are the same paper and the same print, sent flat.
