This beautiful linocut print features an original poem about Hawkshead, capturing the quiet charm of its twisting lanes, its ties to Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and the evening stillness of Esthwaite Water. It is a lovely piece for the wall of any keen reader or anyone with a fond affection for this peaceful village.

Hawkshead

The lanes go twisting, white and small,
Through arches into little squares,
Where cars are left outside, and all
The village keeps its quiet airs.

Young Wordsworth went to school just here
And cut his name into the wood;
The letters, kept there year on year,
Still show where once a schoolboy stood.

Her husband's office, down the lane,
Now shows the pictures Beatrix made;
And Esthwaite Water, still and plain,
Lies waiting in the evening shade.

The print. A4 (21 x 29.7cm) or A3 (29.7 x 42cm). Framed in a solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, with shatterproof acrylic glazing and hanging fixtures fitted, or unframed on 200gsm fine-art paper, sent flat and ready for a frame of your own. Printed to order.

Sizes

A4 — 21 × 29.7 cm

A3 — 29.7 × 42 cm

Each size is the printed sheet itself. Framed, the 20 mm moulding sits outside it and there is no mount, so the whole sheet is on show. Unframed, it is sent flat, ready for a frame of your own.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper — no gloss and no glare, so the words read cleanly from across a room.

Framed in a 20 mm wide solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, with a backing board and hanging fixtures already fitted.

Unframed prints are the same paper and the same print, sent flat.
