Set into a beautiful linocut illustration, this original poem is about the seaside village of Ravenglass, catching its Roman ruins, the tidal meeting of the Esk, Mite, and Irt rivers, and the steam train heading towards Eskdale. Railway enthusiasts, history lovers, and anyone with fond memories of this charming village will adore this print on their wall.

Ravenglass

Three rivers meet here at the tide,
The Esk, the Mite, the Irt, all three,
The only village, far and wide,
Within the Park that meets the sea.

La'al Ratty, as the locals say,
Runs up to Eskdale, small and bright,
Its engines steaming all the way
Through fields and woods and fern-green light.

The Romans had a harbour here;
Their bath house, roofless, in the wood,
Still stands, as it has year on year,
Right where the Roman soldiers stood.

The print. A4 (21 x 29.7cm) or A3 (29.7 x 42cm). Framed in a solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, with shatterproof acrylic glazing and hanging fixtures fitted, or unframed on 200gsm fine-art paper, sent flat and ready for a frame of your own. Printed to order.

Sizes

A4 — 21 × 29.7 cm

A3 — 29.7 × 42 cm

Each size is the printed sheet itself. Framed, the 20 mm moulding sits outside it and there is no mount, so the whole sheet is on show. Unframed, it is sent flat, ready for a frame of your own.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper — no gloss and no glare, so the words read cleanly from across a room.

Framed in a 20 mm wide solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, with a backing board and hanging fixtures already fitted.

Unframed prints are the same paper and the same print, sent flat.
