This poem describes Skiddaw’s ancient, smooth slopes and perfectly captures the long, steady climb up Jenkin Hill to sweeping views over Keswick and the Solway. As a warm reminder of a classic hike, any keen fell walker who adores the Lakes would love this print on their wall.

Skiddaw

The oldest rock in all the Lakes
Is Skiddaw's: dark and finely laid;
It doesn't climb in crags and breaks,
But smooth, in slopes that time has made.

The path climbs steady, long and grey,
Up Jenkin Hill, and on, and on,
Until the top, a stony way,
Where all the valley's green is gone.

And there, beyond the Solway's glint,
Lie Scotland's hills, and, turning round,
The Lakes laid out in every tint,
And Keswick, small, on the low ground.

The print. A4 (21 x 29.7cm) or A3 (29.7 x 42cm). Framed in a solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, with shatterproof acrylic glazing and hanging fixtures fitted, or unframed on 200gsm fine-art paper, sent flat and ready for a frame of your own. Printed to order.

Sizes

A4 — 21 × 29.7 cm

A3 — 29.7 × 42 cm

Each size is the printed sheet itself. Framed, the 20 mm moulding sits outside it and there is no mount, so the whole sheet is on show. Unframed, it is sent flat, ready for a frame of your own.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper — no gloss and no glare, so the words read cleanly from across a room.

Framed in a 20 mm wide solid wood moulding in black, white or natural wood, glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, with a backing board and hanging fixtures already fitted.

Unframed prints are the same paper and the same print, sent flat.
