The iconic view along Wastwater to Wasdale Head draws fell-walkers to the quiet shores of England's deepest lake. From the rocky foreground, the eye travels across still water to the pyramid of Yewbarrow on the left, Great Gable perfectly centred at the valley head, and the rugged Scafells rising to the right.

This Muted Modern design softens the landscape's sheer drama into chalky minimalism. The towering fells are reduced to bold, intersecting shapes mirrored perfectly in the lake below. Stripped of fine details, the print relies on a soothing palette of sand, oat and sage. From across a room, it reads as a gentle, graphic tribute to classic mid-century railway posters.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this piece brings immediate calm to a busy hallway or study wall. A natural wood frame perfectly complements the earthy tones, while a black frame adds a crisp edge to the bold typography. Belonging to a wider regional series, it hangs beautifully alone or gathered in a set of three.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural wood.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Muted Modern series

Chalky modern minimalism in sand, oat and sage — made to live with

Quiet, chalky and low-contrast, in the sand, oat, clay and sage a modern interior is already painted in. The place is still exactly itself — just held softly enough to live above a sofa for twenty years.
