Wastwater — Vivid Lake District Travel Poster

Wastwater at Wasdale Head presents a defining panorama of the fells. Walkers stand on the rocky shoreline taking in the sheer scale of the valley, flanked by the pyramid of Yewbarrow on the left and the Scafells to the right. Anchoring the centre is Great Gable, with the entire rugged skyline mirrored perfectly in the still lake below.

The poster captures this view through the bold tradition of mid-century travel art. Complex terrain is reduced to sweeping graphic shapes, rendering the slopes in striking blocks of ochre, russet, and moss green. Set against a brilliant blue sky of stylised clouds, the flat colours and crisp typography ensure the composition reads powerfully from across a room.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this vibrant print makes a superb focal point in a hallway or a welcoming stairwell. The bright palette pairs beautifully with a natural wood frame to warm the earthy landscape, or a crisp white frame to echo the clouds. Part of a wider regional series, it hangs wonderfully alone or collected as a set of three.
