Blencathra presents a broad saddleback summit rising above valley pastures. Walkers who navigate its ridges know this fell intimately, returning to trace its distinctive skyline. In the meadow foreground, ancient standing stones form a wide circle, drawing visitors to stand among them and look back towards the looming peak.

This design revives the 1930s railway poster tradition, reading beautifully from across a room. The landscape reduces to bold, striking shapes: the heather-purple and sunlit gold of the fell, separated from the green meadow by a dark line of trees. Flat inks block out the rugged topography and shadows, anchoring the classic typography below.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this piece brings vintage scale to a hallway or stairwell wall. A natural wood frame warms the earthy greens and purples, while a black moulding sharpens the silhouetted trees. Like all our railway prints, it belongs to a wider series, perfect for collecting or hanging as a trio.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
