Haystacks is a beloved fell defined by its knobbled summit of rocky knolls and small, reflective pools. Walkers ascend this rugged terrain to find a quiet mountain tarn resting in a craggy hollow, framed by the long, steep ridges rising dramatically across the valley beyond. It is a summit rich in character, marking a favourite route for those who know the high fells by heart.

Drawn in the tradition of 1930s railway prints, the design reduces this complex landscape into bold shapes and flat, confident inks. From across a room, deep blue pools and shadowed crags contrast strongly with a sweeping, graphic sky, all anchored by a single, perfect line of typography.

Striking on a hallway wall or above a study desk, this framed poster arrives ready to hang. A natural wood frame beautifully complements the earthy fellside tones, while a black frame sharpens the vintage text. It belongs to a wider collection, perfect for hanging singly or grouped as a curated set of Lakeland favourites.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural wood.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
