Seen from the high terrace path, Rydal Water is a shallow lake held between steep terrain. Walkers naturally pause here to take in the sweep of the water, framed from the left by bare oak and birch, while the fell drops abruptly to meet the far shore.

This Art Nouveau treatment reimagines the landscape through flowing, organic linework. Whiplash curves define the swirling currents and twisted branches, all held within an intricate ornamental border. Drawn in a flat, matte palette of sage, rose and muted gold, the design resolves into bold, rhythmic shapes that read clearly across a room, anchored by classic typography.

Perfect for a stairwell or holiday cottage hallway, this framed poster arrives ready to hang. A natural wood frame complements the sage and muted gold tones beautifully. Belonging to a wider series of Lakeland prints, it works wonderfully as a standalone statement or gathered as a collected set.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural wood.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Art Nouveau series

Whiplash curves and an ornamental border, in sage, rose and muted gold

Sinuous whiplash line and an ornamental border, in the manner of Mucha. The water and foliage become organic curves; the fells become pattern. Muted sage, olive, dusty rose and gold.
