Tarn Hows is a small, island-studded tarn ringed by dark conifers and larch. Walkers follow the path curving gently along its shore, looking across the water to where the distant fells rise blue beyond.

Drawing on classic 1930s railway artwork, this design reduces the landscape to striking, flat planes of colour. From across a room, the eye follows the bold sweep of the shoreline leading towards deep purple mountains and the sharp silhouettes of lakeside pines, anchored by crisp typography.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this graphic print brings vintage character to a hallway or stairwell. A black frame sharpens the dark shapes of the woodland perfectly. As part of a wider collection, it looks excellent hung alongside other Lakeland designs in a set of three.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Every poster is printed and framed to order, at the production facility closest to your delivery address.

Framed pieces are made and dispatched within 5–10 working days. UK delivery normally takes up to five working days after dispatch; international orders can take up to 28 days.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
