Grasmere is a small, round lake enclosed by the shoulders of Helm Crag and Silver How. Known by heart to generations of walkers, its near shore features deep reed beds framing a perfect view out to the single wooded island at its centre.

The Japanese woodblock style treats the valley in layered colour beneath a soft gradient sky. From across a room, the dark canopy of the island pines contrasts beautifully against the cool, reflective water. A quiet key line defines the sweeping fells and delicate foreground reeds, capturing the bold, crisp appeal of a traditional block print.
