Honister Pass is a formidable ascent, a narrow road climbing steeply through a rocky defile. Those who conquer the gradient are dwarfed by sheer crags and slate spoil from old quarry workings that scar the fellside, with the valley falling away dramatically behind.

The design captures the route in a hard frost, drawing on the bold heritage of mid-century railway posters. The landscape is reduced to sweeping graphic shapes of snow, dark slate and deep ice blue, dominated by the steep curve of the road. A single cold pink sun provides a striking focal point that reads instantly from across a room.

Hung in a hallway or above a study desk, it brings the raw energy of the fells indoors. Arriving framed and ready to hang, this stark palette looks exceptionally sharp in a black frame, which anchors the heavy slate tones. Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Framed pieces are made and dispatched within 5–10 working days. UK delivery normally takes up to five working days after dispatch; international orders can take up to 28 days.
