Honister Pass is a formidable ascent, a narrow road climbing steeply through a rocky defile. The fellside is scarred by vast slate spoil and old quarry workings, leaving a dramatic mark of industry on the rock. Behind the steep climb, the valley falls away sharply into the distance.

This design captures the landscape in a hard frost, reviving the bold tradition of vintage railway posters. The terrain is reduced to striking geometric planes of crisp snow, deep slate and ice blue, warmed only by a cold pink sun. From across a room, the steep gradient of the pass is instantly readable in broad, flat blocks of colour.

A commanding piece for a hallway or study, this framed poster arrives ready to hang. The icy palette is perfectly grounded by a black wooden frame, which anchors the dark winter crags. Belonging to a wider series of classic travel posters, it works beautifully as a standalone statement or grouped as a set of three.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural wood.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Every poster is printed and framed to order, at the production facility closest to your delivery address.

Framed pieces are made and dispatched within 5–10 working days. UK delivery normally takes up to five working days after dispatch; international orders can take up to 28 days.

Winter Railway Lake District travel poster

The Winter Railway series

The railway poster in hard frost — snow, slate and ice blue, with one cold pink

The same 1930s railway treatment, printed for winter: snow white and chalk, slate and charcoal, ice blue water and a single cold pink where the low sun catches a summit. The fells at their most graphic — bare, still and hard-edged, the season the Lakes are quietest and most themselves.
