Viewed from the terrace path, Rydal Water is a shallow lake held tightly by the fells. Bare oak and birch frame the scene from the left, leading the eye across to where Loughrigg Fell drops to the far shore, with Nab Scar steep above.

This design reimagines the landscape through impossible geometry. Rendered in the crisp monochrome of traditional ink hatching, the fellside transforms into a labyrinth of sheer blocks. Below, the lake dissolves into a surreal tessellation, morphing into birds taking flight. From across a room, it reads as a bold, high-contrast graphic before revealing its intricate puzzles.

A captivating addition to a study or stairwell, this piece arrives framed and ready to hang. It looks sharpest in a black frame, which perfectly anchors the dense ink work. Belonging to a wider collection of travel posters, it pairs easily with other locations to build a striking set.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Escher series

Ink hatching and impossible geometry, with a tessellation rising from the water

Precise ink hatching, rock strata that interlock impossibly, and a tessellation of birds emerging from the water's reflection. Black on cream, and rewarding to stand close to.
