To scramble Striding Edge is to tackle a famous high ridge. This narrow, rocky arête demands absolute focus as the path weaves along its crest, dipping and rising sharply towards the summit. To the left lies a deep tarn in a steep bowl, backed by layered, receding fells.

In classic 1930s railway poster style, this sheer topography is distilled into bold shapes and flat inks. The steep drops are mapped in sunlit ochres and heavy shadow, sitting beneath towering cream clouds. From across a room, the eye instantly follows the jagged line of the ridge path, anchored by clean, vintage typography.

Delivered framed and ready to hang, this graphic design brings an instant sense of scale to a stairwell or study. A black wood frame sharply defines the crisp lettering and dark crags perfectly. Part of a wider collection, it looks striking hung alone or grouped with other vintage-style posters to map out your greatest ascents.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
