Seen from above, this narrow rocky arête dictates a thrilling path along its crest, dipping before rising sharply to the summit. Down in the bowl to the left lies the dark water of Red Tarn, while layered fells recede into the haze.

The 1930s railway poster style reduces the jagged ridge to bold, striking shapes. Deep purples and cool slate blues form the sheer drops, cut by a zigzag of ochre that traces the famous path. The dark mass of the tarn balances the design, ensuring immense visual impact from across a room.

Perfect for a hallway or study, this piece brings the high fells indoors. It arrives framed and ready to hang. A black frame pairs exceptionally well here, anchoring the deep indigo waters and bold typography. Part of a wider series, it looks striking alone or grouped as a set.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Every poster is printed and framed to order, at the production facility closest to your delivery address.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
