Ashness Bridge is an old stone packhorse arch crossing a rocky beck. Standing here offers a dramatic view down the steep fellside to the lake far below, with a vast mountain massif rising beyond. It is an iconic viewpoint that walkers know by heart.

This Japanese woodblock treatment reimagines the landscape through layered colour and a quiet key line. From across a room, the eye is drawn to the soft gradient sky of dusk pinks and cool blues, contrasting with the bold stones of the bridge. The heather-clad fells and flowing water become rhythmic, sweeping shapes.

Arriving framed and ready to hang in a hallway or study, this piece brings the outdoors inside. A natural wood frame beautifully complements the earthy tones of the heather, while black sharpens the crisp linework. As part of a series, it pairs effortlessly with other prints to build a gallery of favourite places.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural wood.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Delivery and returns

Every poster is printed and framed to order, at the production facility closest to your delivery address.

Framed pieces are made and dispatched within 5–10 working days. UK delivery normally takes up to five working days after dispatch; international orders can take up to 28 days.

Japanese Woodblock Lake District travel poster

The Japanese Woodblock series

Japanese woodblock: layered colour, soft gradient skies, a quiet key line

Drawn in the tradition of the Japanese shin-hanga travel print: flat colour areas, soft graded skies and delicate outlines. The Lake District's mist and layered ridges suit it as well as Hakone ever did.
