Ashness Bridge is an enduring Lakeland icon. This ancient stone packhorse bridge arches gracefully over a rocky beck in the immediate foreground, before the fellside drops steeply away to reveal a vast lake far below and a towering mountain massif rising beyond. It is a historic viewpoint that captures the rugged, sweeping romance of the fells in a single glance.

The traditional railway screen print style distils this complex panorama into bold, graphic forms. Warm ochres and vibrant heather purples dominate the foreground, contrasting perfectly with the steely blues of the distant water and receding peaks. Seen from across a room, these flat blocks of ink and clean, modernist typography deliver the unmistakable, striking impact of classic 1930s travel advertising.

Perfect for an entryway or sitting room wall, this vibrant piece brings a breath of altitude indoors. It arrives framed and ready to hang, with the print running flawlessly edge-to-edge. A natural wood frame beautifully echoes the earthy tones of the rocky riverbank, while a black frame neatly sharpens the bold lettering. Belonging to a wider series, it is ready to be collected or hung as part of a set of Lakeland favourites.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Railway Screen Print Lake District travel poster

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
