Derwentwater is a wide, calm lake studded with small wooded islands. From its shores, you look across the water to the distinctive profile of Catbells and the western fells, or south towards the dark jaws of Borrowdale closing in the distance.

This design reimagines the landscape through impossible geometry and precise ink hatching. From afar, the familiar topography stands out boldly above the classic typography. Step closer, and the water breaks into a mesmerising tessellation of interlocking birds and fish, while the steep fells are built from cubic, stair-like blocks that deliberately confound the eye.

A striking, graphic addition to a study or stairwell wall. This print arrives framed and ready to hang. A black frame sharply accents the heavy contrast of the monochromatic hatching, grounding the optical illusion perfectly. As part of a wider series, it sits beautifully alone or collected as a set of three.

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Framed pieces are made and dispatched within 5–10 working days. UK delivery normally takes up to five working days after dispatch; international orders can take up to 28 days.
