Grasmere is a small, perfectly round lake enclosed by the sweeping shoulders of Helm Crag and Silver How. Walkers stand by the near shore, looking past thick reed beds to the single wooded island that anchors the centre of the water, tracing the familiar lines of the fells.

The scene is captured in the bold tradition of 1930s railway posters. The landscape is reduced to flat shapes of dusky purple, rich green, and muted blue, imitating the layered inks of a vintage screen print. From across a room, the sharp silhouettes of the island and fells read instantly.

Arriving fully framed and ready to hang, this piece brings a strong graphic element to a hallway or stairwell. A natural wood frame perfectly highlights the earthy greens of the print. Designed as part of a wider collection, it sits handsomely on its own or grouped as a series.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Railway Screen Print Lake District travel poster

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
