Great Gable stands as a massive pyramid peak of grey crags. Fell-baggers are drawn to its sheer scale, where wide fans of scree cascade down steep slopes to the valley floor, and thin winding paths meet at the valley head below.

The 1930s railway poster tradition distils this dramatic geology into bold shapes and flat inks. From across a room, slate greys, shaded purples and warm valley golds build the mountain’s faceted crags beneath billowing clouds. The scene is anchored by a single line of crisp, classic typography.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this print commands attention on a hallway or stairwell wall. A black frame sharply defines the vintage typography, while natural wood echoes the earthy tones of the scree. It belongs to a wider series of Lakeland posters, perfect for collecting as a set of three.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
