Coniston Water is a long, straight lake of dramatic shores. Seen down its length from the wooded eastern bank, the deep water stretches out beneath the imposing whaleback ridge of the Old Man of Coniston rising along the far side.

Capturing the landscape in the 1930s railway poster tradition, this design reduces the fells to bold, sweeping shapes and flat inks. From across a room, a simple wooden jetty and moored boat stand out against deep blue water and rich, ochre felltops, all anchored by that one perfect line of classic typography.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this print makes a striking statement in a hallway or above a desk. A Black frame perfectly contains the deep blues, while Natural wood echoes the wooden jetty. Collect it alongside others in the series to build your own Lakeland gallery.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
