Looking down its length from a wooded eastern shore, the eye is drawn to the whaleback ridge of the Old Man of Coniston rising along the far side. It is a classic vantage point, capturing a quiet moment beside a small jetty where a solitary boat sits moored on the water.

This impressionist treatment builds the scene entirely from broken colour and dissolving light. Dappled purples, warm golds, and deep blues dance across Coniston Water, reflecting a dramatic sky without a single heavy outline. From across a room, these painterly strokes blend into a luminous atmosphere above the crisp typography.

Ready to hang, this framed piece makes a glowing focal point above a sitting room fireplace or along a stairwell. A natural wood frame beautifully echoes the rustic jetty, while a white frame highlights the pastel clouds. It belongs to a wider collection, perfect for hanging as a matching series.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural wood.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Every poster is printed and framed to order, at the production facility closest to your delivery address.

Framed pieces are made and dispatched within 5–10 working days. UK delivery normally takes up to five working days after dispatch; international orders can take up to 28 days.

The Impressionist series

Broken colour and dissolving light — plein-air oil, no outlines anywhere

Painted as plein-air oil: broken colour in short loaded strokes, edges dissolved by light, the water a field of dabbed complementaries. The softest thing we make.
