A row of tall Scots pines lines the near shore of Buttermere, mirrored perfectly in the still water. Behind them, the craggy ridge of Haystacks rises steeply, flanked by a bare fellside sweeping down to the right. It is a striking landscape known by heart to the many walkers who have completed a circuit of this famous valley.

The artwork captures the scene through a classic Impressionist lens, trading harsh outlines for broken colour and dissolving light. Built from rich, textured dabs of violet, gold, and forest green, it replicates a plein-air oil painting. From across the room, these complex marks soften into a glowing atmosphere above the bold, clean typography.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this piece brings Lakeland warmth to a hallway or sitting room. A natural wood frame beautifully complements the golden fells, while black highlights the dark pines. As part of a wider Impressionist series, it looks magnificent alone or grouped with other destinations.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Impressionist series

Broken colour and dissolving light — plein-air oil, no outlines anywhere

Painted as plein-air oil: broken colour in short loaded strokes, edges dissolved by light, the water a field of dabbed complementaries. The softest thing we make.
