Grasmere is a small, round lake held in the valley floor, enclosed by the high shoulders of Helm Crag and Silver How. Walkers pause by the near shore's reed beds to take in the water, anchored perfectly by the single wooded island at its centre.

This design captures the scene through an Impressionist lens, abandoning outlines for broken colour and dissolving light. From across a room, it reads as a vibrant plein-air oil study, where dabs of lilac, ochre and soft green blend into shifting reflections, all grounded by classic travel-poster typography.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this print brings soft light to a hallway or bedroom wall. A white frame perfectly highlights the pastel tones, while natural wood complements the earthy fells. As part of a wider series, it sits beautifully alone or collected as a set of three.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural wood.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Every poster is printed and framed to order, at the production facility closest to your delivery address.

The Impressionist series

Broken colour and dissolving light — plein-air oil, no outlines anywhere

Painted as plein-air oil: broken colour in short loaded strokes, edges dissolved by light, the water a field of dabbed complementaries. The softest thing we make.
