Honister Pass offers one of the most dramatic ascents in the Lake District. A narrow road climbs steeply through a rocky defile between towering crags, where slate spoil and old quarry workings scar the steep fellside, leaving the valley falling away far behind.

The design treats this industrial mountain landscape with stark mid-century Swiss reduction. The terrain is distilled into sharp, bold shapes in contrasting charcoal, pale grey, and off-white. Against this monochrome backdrop, the quarry structure is picked out in a single block of vivid red. From across a room, the heavy black crags create an immediate, powerful graphic impact above the clean typography.

A commanding presence for a modern hallway, sharp stairwell, or minimalist study. Arriving fully framed and ready to hang, this print looks exceptional in a black wood frame, perfectly extending the deep tones of the foreground rock. As part of a wider collection of modernist Lakeland posters, it can be hung alongside other dramatic routes to build a striking gallery wall.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural wood.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Swiss Modernist Lake District travel poster

The Swiss Modernist series

Mid-century Swiss reduction — a fell in five shapes and a single red rule

The severest treatment we make. A fell reduced to five flat shapes, acres of quiet ground and a single accent, in the manner of the Swiss tourism posters of the 1960s. It suits a modern room and a plain wall.
