Walking the terrace path above Rydal Water reveals a beloved low-level view of this shallow lake. Bare oak and birch frame the scene from the left, while the slopes of Loughrigg Fell drop gently to the far shore and Nab Scar rises steep above.

Rendered in the bold 1930s railway poster tradition, the landscape is distilled into striking blocks of flat colour. From across a room, the dark, twisting silhouette of the foreground tree stands sharp against a pale sky, leading the eye past shadowed stone walls toward the rich purples and ochres of the fells. Clean typography anchors the foot of the design.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this print brings vintage character to a hallway or a cottage stairwell. A black frame sharply highlights the dark inks of the winter branches, while natural wood softens the presentation beautifully. Enjoy it as a striking focal point, or hang alongside others from the series.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
