Tarn Hows is a small, island-studded tarn ringed by dark conifers and larch. Walkers follow the path curving along its shore, taking in sweeping views of the high fells rising blue beyond the water. It is a gentle, unforgettable route that captures the Lakeland landscape.

This design reimagines the view in the tradition of the 1930s railway poster. The landscape is distilled into bold shapes and flat inks. From across a room, the deep greens of the pines contrast sharply against the distant fells, anchored by crisp vintage typography.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this piece brings the outdoors to a hallway or above a study desk. A natural wood frame beautifully complements the earthy greens and sandy path of the design. Hang it as a single memento, or group it with other places in the series to create a striking collection.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
