Derwentwater is a sweeping, calm lake studded with small wooded islands, acting as a mirror to the western fells and the dramatic valley closing in the distance. Walkers trace paths through vibrant heather here, looking out over sheltered waters before the landscape rises steeply to the high peaks.

Channeling 1930s railway advertising, this view is reduced to confident blocks of flat colour. From across a room, vibrant swathes of purple heather lead the eye toward the steel-blue lake and layered fells beneath towering cream clouds. Bold, unembellished typography completes the nostalgic design.

Perfect for a bright hallway or a quiet study, this print arrives framed and ready to hang. A natural wood frame beautifully complements the earthy landscape, while black provides a striking border against the pale sky. As part of a wider collection, it looks magnificent hung alongside other favourite destinations.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Every poster is printed and framed to order, at the production facility closest to your delivery address.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
