Derwentwater is a wide, calm expanse broken by small, wooded islands. From these shores, the view stretches across the water toward the steep western fells, while the jaws of the deep valley close in the distance.

This railway poster style reduces the landscape into bold, striking shapes. Flat fields of deep purple and muted green define the interlocking fells, contrasting with the solid slate blue of the lake. Read from across a room, these unshaded planes of ink and the crisp typography perfectly capture the golden age of travel design.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this vibrant piece brings character to a hallway or stairwell. A black frame grounds the darker tones beautifully, while natural wood highlights the foreground's warm ochre accents. Part of a wider collection, it hangs perfectly alone or collected as a cohesive set.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural wood.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Every poster is printed and framed to order, at the production facility closest to your delivery address.

Framed pieces are made and dispatched within 5–10 working days. UK delivery normally takes up to five working days after dispatch; international orders can take up to 28 days.

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
