Walkers pause by Buttermere to take in a famous view: tall Scots pines mirrored in the still water. Behind them rises the craggy ridge of Haystacks, with a bare fellside falling to the shoreline on the right.

The poster captures this scene using the flat inks and bold geometry of 1930s travel advertising. The crags are reduced to overlapping blocks of blue and mauve, contrasting with the dark pine silhouettes. From across a room, the reflection draws the eye directly down to the unadorned typography.

Arriving framed and ready to hang, this bold piece anchors a hallway or study wall. A black frame sharply defines the print's dark blues, while a natural wood frame suits the warmer tones of the bare fellside. Belonging to a wider series, it is easily collected to build a cohesive stairwell gallery.

Sizes

30 × 40 cm — 12 × 16 in

45 × 60 cm — 18 × 24 in

50 × 70 cm — 20 × 28 in

Each size is the printed poster itself; the 20 mm moulding sits outside it. There is no mount — the print runs to the frame, so the whole design is on show.

Paper, frame and glazing

Printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper, chosen for flat colour: no gloss, no reflections, and ink that sits in the sheet rather than on it.

Framed in a 20 mm wide, 24 mm deep solid wood moulding — black, white or natural oak.

Glazed with shatterproof acrylic rather than glass, so a large poster arrives intact.

MDF backing board with hanging fixtures already fitted.

Railway Screen Print Lake District travel poster

The Railway Screen Print series

The 1930s railway poster: flat inks, bold shapes, one perfect line of type

The style that sold the British countryside to the railway age. Flat screen-printed colour, hard-edged clouds and a place name set large across the foot of the sheet. Every poster in this collection treats a Lakeland place the way the LNER and Shell artists treated a coastline.
